BEDFORD – A Bedford woman was arrested Sunday after Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a report of a domestic at 2:45 a.m. at 7994 State Road 158.

Cindy Carter

The caller 52-year-old Cindy Carter told a dispatcher a man had punched her and had a machete. She also told the dispatcher that both of them had been drinking.

When deputies arrived they found Carter at the front door.

She told police the male had punched her in the face. Officers found the male sitting on the couple’s bed.

The male had bruising and redness on the left side of his face and a cut on the bridge of his nose.

He told police that Carter got angry and began yelling at him. He told police he was unsure why Carter was angry. She then started punching him. He stated that he did not punch her back. The male declined medical treatment.

Carter continued to say the male had punched her but she had no injuries. She finally admitted she had punched the male in the face.

Carter was detained on a charge of domestic battery and was transported to IU Health Hospital due to her level of intoxication to be medically cleared and then transported to jail.
