Barr-Reeve tennis sweeps past Stars

MONTGOMERY – Barr-Reeve swept past Bedford North Lawrence 5-0 during boys high school tennis action on Monday.

The Vikings were dominant on every court, dropping only eight games, while handing the Stars their first setback of the season.

Donnie Miller cruised past Jayden Kemp 6-1, 6-1 at No.1 singles, Xavier Meiring topped Jackson Corey 6-0, 6-0 at No.2, and Kierson Lengacher stopped Orion Hill 6-0, 6-2 at No.3.

In doubles, Barr-Reeve’s Ethan Stoll and Isaac Madison rolled past Drew Stephenson and Neal Patel 6-2 6-0 at No.1. Kyle Graber and Levi Lester stormed through Gavin Baker and Micah Carter 6-1, 6-1 at No.2.

“Barr-Reeve is a really strong, athletic team and they were very good tonight,” BNL coach Chris Kurtz said. “I expect they’ll have another great season.

“There are things to work on, for sure, when we get a few practices later in the week, but the effort, the fight is there. We need to finish points better, give fewer of those away.”

The Stars (2-1) will visit Bloomington South on Tuesday.
