Constellation Stage & Screen presents Holmes & Watson and the return of “Pay What You Will Thursdays”

BLOOMINGTON – This September, Constellation Stage & Screen is kicking off its 2nd theatrical season with an edge-of-your-seat mystery, a new take on literature’s favorite detective: Sherlock Holmes!

Holmes & Watson by Jeffrey Hatcher, directed by J. Barrett Cooper, is on stage September 7-24 at the Waldron Auditorium in Downtown Bloomington. Constellation also announces the continuation of our “Pay What You Will Thursdays” program, allowing audiences to see live theater for as little as $5 per ticket.

Summoned to a remote asylum on a rocky island, Dr. Watson investigates three inmates who all claim to be the genius sleuth, Sherlock Holmes. All the world knows Holmes died facing his nemesis Moriarty years ago, so who are these imposters? This eerie new chapter in the Sherlock Holmes saga will stir your blood and puzzle your mind. With productions across the country since its release in 2017, Constellation is thrilled to be bringing this chilling mystery to Bloomington. As the University of Huston’s review said, “Holmes and Watson do everything that a Sherlock Holmes adaptation should do. It keeps the playgoer on the edge of their seats with mystery, laughing with the humor, and entertained with the character reveals. The show is a must-see for those who are Sherlock fans, but also allows those with little to no knowledge of Holmes to be entertained as well.”

Holmes & Watson brings together a talented cast, featuring several local, professional actors. The show stars Ronnie Johnstone, an Indianapolis-based actor, in the titular role of Watson. Thickening the plot the three possible Sherlock Holmes are Bobby Ayala Perez and Gavin Douglas, recent graduates of IU Theater’s M.F.A. Acting program, and David Sheehan, previously seen in Constellation’s The Importance of Being Earnest and many productions at the Bloomington Playwrights Project. Rounding out the cast are David Arrow, a New York-based Equity actor, in the role of Dr. Evans; John Robert Armstrong, local Equity actor and Constellation’s Director of Development, as Orderly; and Valerie C Kilmer, previously seen in Constellation’s The Importance of Being Earnest, as Matron.

Directed by J. Barrett Cooper, a professional actor, director, and fight director for over 35 years. Joining Cooper as members of our creative team are Scenic Designer Seth Howard, Lighting Designer Jennifer Fok, Costume Designer Guy Clark, Sound Designer and Composer Brandon Reed, Stage Manager Tabitha Burton, and Assistant Stage Manager Chelsea Pell.
