FRENCH LICK – Paced by excellent rounds from Kinleigh Root and Kenley Craig, No.16 Bedford North Lawrence carded three wins during girls high school golf action at the Valley Links course on Tuesday.

The Stars fired a season-best round of 155 to conquer Corydon (166), Springs Valley (197) and North Daviess (217).

Root posted an even-par 36 that included a birdie on the sixth hole (offset by a lone bogey on the eighth). Craig bogeyed the first hole then fashioned eight consecutive pars for her 1-over 37.

Chloe McFaddin added a 40, and Ellie Horton capped the team scoring with 42.

“I’m very proud of the team tonight,” BNL coach Kori Johnston said. “We had match PRs from Kinleigh, Kenley, Sammie (Nusbaum) and Jasmine (Nguyen). They have the talent and potential to shoot low scores, and we finally showed a glimpse of that.

“We need to iron out some putting issues and then we’ll be good to go Thursday.”

Corydon’s Emma Rowland was the match medalist with a 1-under 35, setting a nine-hole school record. Mia Cruz paced the Blackhawks with 39.

BNL will visit Washington on Thursday.
