GALENA – No.8 Floyd Central posted wins over No.16 Bedford North Lawrence and Jennings County during girls high school golf action on the front nine at Valley View on Monday.

The Highlanders carded an impressive 149, the Stars fired 162, while the Panthers finished with 249.

Chloe McFaddin paced the Stars with an even-par 36 that featured an eagle on the par-5 sixth hole and a follow-up birdie on the seventh. Kinleigh Root birdied the first and seventh holes on her way to a one-over 37.

“Kinleigh and Chloe played much better tonight and put up the scores they should be,” BNL coach Kori Johnston said. “Conditions were rough with rain and wind, but they all did a good job of hanging in there and staying mentally tough.”

Ellie Horton birdied the seventh en route to a 44, and Kenley Craig capped the BNL scoring with 45.

“At this point we just have to eliminate the big numbers,” Johnston said, “and take advantage of birdie chances when we get them, and we’ll be looking good.”

Paige Giovenco carded a one-under 35 for the Highlanders.

BNL will visit Springs Valley on Tuesday.
