Juvenile detained after destroying bathroom

BEDFORD – A 15-year-old female was detained Thursday after her mother reported her daughter had locked herself in the bathroom and was destroying it.

When police arrived in the 1000 block of H Street at 3:34 p.m. the teen’s mother told police her daughter was on house arrest and was attempting to fight everyone in the home.

The officers spoke to the teen and asked her to unlock the bathroom door but she refused. She told police through the door that she had gotten into a disagreement with her brother and he had hit her with a biscuit and that upset her. She said she didn’t like living in the home and wanted to live with her father.

After a period of time, the teen calmed down and exited the bathroom. Police say the bathroom was in disarray and there were multiple holes in the bathroom wall.

Juvenile probation was then contacted. In an attempt to resolve the dispute peacefully, the officer requested the siblings separate. But the teen was not happy with that solution and began striking the television in an attempt to break it.

The teen was detained and transported to the Bedford Police Department. A summons was issued for her to appear in court on August 9, at 9 a.m. and she was released to her mother who transported her to Meadows Hospital in Bloomington for an evaluation.
