No tail lights result in arrest of two on drug charges

MITCHELL – Two men were arrested Tuesday after a Mitchell Police officer noticed them driving on State Road 37 and Main Street in Mitchell with no tail lights.

The vehicle was stopped in the parking lot of the Shell station.

The officer approached the vehicle and explained why he has stopped their vehicle. While speaking to the driver the officer noticed a bottle of alcohol and asked 29-year-old Adam Swartz, of Mitchell, to step out of the vehicle. While the Mitchell officer was speaking to Swartz, a Lawrence County deputy spoke to the passenger 38-year-old Damien Pinnick, of Mitchell.

Pinnick handed the deputy a marijuana pipe.

Both men were detained.

During a probable cause search of the vehicle, police found a small baggie containing crystal meth and another smoking device with meth residue in the center console.

Both men denied the meth and smoking pipe were theirs. Pinnick did admit the marijuana pipe was his.

Both men were arrested on charges of possession of meth and drug paraphernalia. Pinnick was also charged with possession of marijuana.
