Two females detained for theft at Walmart

BEDFORD – Two young women were detained on theft charges on Wednesday after Bedford Police officers were requested to Walmart at 1:12 p.m.

When police arrived they learned store asset protection employees have detained two females – a 16-year-old girl, and 18-year-old Haylee Arthur, both of Bedford.

Police say the pair entered the story at 12:19 p.m. with an empty backpack. After shopping for grocery items, the girls entered the electronics department and made several selections.  They then asked a store employee where the box cutters were located. They then went to the craft department and were caught on video cutting items out of the packages and concealing the items in the backpack.

The girls then went to the lawn and garden area and exited the building, where they were stopped by asset protection employees and the police were contacted.

Both teens were transported to the Bedford Police Department. Arthur was issued a summons to appear in court on a charge of theft. The 16-year-old was released to her mother with a promise to appear in court on a charge of theft on August 9th at 9 a.m.

The total amount of theft was $235.23. Both females were issued no-trespass orders preventing them from returning to the store.
