Daviess County Health Department hosting Back to School Bash on August 5

WASHINGTON – The Daviess County Health Department is gearing up to host its annual Back to School Bash on Saturday, August 5, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at 300 East Hefron Street in Washington.

The event will feature a range of essential services for students, including immunizations and lead testing.

The health department has teamed with several community partners to provide various services at no charge:

  • Wellness checks and physicals will be provided by NP Julia Smith of JSOH
  • Dental screenings and fluoride treatment by Dr. Haviland Watkins of Troutman Dentistry
  • Vision screenings.
  • Free haircuts by four hairstylists
  • Information from the public library
  • Smoking and vaping education
  • Mental health services, and resources tailored for school-aged children

Attendees can also expect to receive freebies such as earbuds, and there will be registration for exciting prizes available.

The health department will offer extended hours from Monday, August 7, until Wednesday, August 9, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. for immunizations. While appointments are encouraged, they are not required for these additional hours.
