Man stabbed at Washington Baymont Inn, suspect arrested

WASHINGTON – One person is in custody at the Daviess County Security Center following a stabbing this morning at the Baymont Inn in Washington.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department received a report of the stabbing call around 6:30 a.m. at the Baymont Inn on Cumberland Drive.

Daviess County Sheriff Gary Allison says the stabbing happened outside of the building during an argument between two construction workers.

The victim was identified as Logan Knapik, 35, of Niceville, Florida. He was taken to the Daviess Community Hospital for treatment of a knife wound to the back. He is listed in stable condition.

Police arrested Timucin Karca, 45, of Clifton, New Jersey on preliminary charges of battery by means of a deadly weapon and battery causing serious bodily injury. Karca was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Daviess County Security Center where is he being held without bond.

Washington Police Department officers assisted at the scene.
