Intersection work begins this week on State Road 7 at County Road 900 North in northern Jennings County

JENNINGS CO. — Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Dave O’Mara Contractor Inc. plans to begin work this week on a $5.7 million intersection improvement and structure replacement project in Jennings County.

On or after Wednesday, July 19, State Road 7 will be reduced to one lane at County Road 900 North in northern Jennings County as crews add auxiliary lanes and strengthen the shoulder of the roadway. Construction will occur in two phases and traffic on State Road 7 will be controlled by temporary traffic signals.

Also on or after Wednesday, July 19, County Road 900 N. will close for up to 100 days, through late October. The official detour follows C.R. 950 to C.R. 940. Utility relocation work has taken place up to this point.

The contract was awarded in November and also includes added turn lanes on S.R. 7 at Country Squire Blvd. (C.R. 275 W.), as well as a small structure replacement. Work is expected to begin next spring at this location. Utility work is currently in progress.

INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution and consider worker safety when traveling in and near construction zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
