Bloomington man hit and killed by train

BLOOMINGTON – A man was hit and killed by a train around 4 p.m. on Wednesday near the West 3rd Street and South Johnson Avenue intersection in Bloomington.

The Bloomington Police Department was drawn to the scene by reports of a person being hit by a train and dying. They learned of the man’s death upon arrival.

The man killed has yet to be identified, but the Terre Haute autopsy was scheduled for July 6, and should eventually yield information concerning cause and manner of death, as well as potentially assisting in the identification of the individual. Once the man has been positively identified, the family can be properly contacted and informed of the tragedy.

Those in charge of the investigation have explained that information will be released after the man has been properly identified and the family is notified.
