‘SOUND OF FREEDOM’ AMC Theatre to show law enforcement cadets, area deputies, and police a true story of child trafficking

TERRE HAUTE – AMC Classic Terre Haute 12 theaters will host a free, private showing of the box office hit “Sound of Freedom” on Monday for Indiana’s Sheriff & Police Cadet Academy and local law enforcement from across West Central Indiana.

“Donations will allow our future and current law enforcement officers to see the true story of the growing child trafficking crisis nationwide and worldwide,” said Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse, president of the Indiana Sheriffs’ Youth Ranch, co-host of the showing.

“Sound of Freedom,” produced by Angel Studios, opened in 2,600 theaters on July 4 and reportedly edged out “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” for the No. 1 spot on Independence Day, according to Box Office Mojo.

“This PG-13 film tells the true story of one man’s journey to combat child sex trafficking,” said Scott Minier, ISYR’s executive director. “The film delivers a bold account of the life of Tim Ballard, a former U.S. Department of Homeland Security agent who left his job to do more to rescue children from modern-day slavery.”

Police officers, deputies and state troopers from across West Central Indiana are being invited to attend the film free-of-charge, so they may better understand the scale of the crisis that U.S. sex offenders tragically contribute to and fund, Minier said.

“It is the fastest growing international crime network that the world has ever seen. It has already passed the illegal arms trade and soon it’s going to pass the drug trade, because you can only sell a bag of cocaine one time,” warns actor Jim Caviezel, playing Ballard’s character.

According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Mexico “ranks first in child sexual abuse; first in exploitation, homicides, and trafficking of minors; and first in creation and distribution of child pornography.”

The U.S. is identified as the number one consumer of the sex industry and child pornography worldwide, according to the United States Institute Against Human Trafficking.

Plasse said “Sound of Freedom” will leave viewers—law enforcement, political leaders, parents and grandparents, all Americans—with a sensitive, yet vital call to action:

“God’s children are not for sale.”
