8th Annual Curt Gilstrap Memorial Golf Scramble is August 5

BEDFORD – Once again it’s time for the 8th Annual Curt Gilstrap Memorial Golf Scramble.

The event raises necessary funds for scholarships for seniors from Orleans, Paoli, and Springs Valley community schools.

Join fellow golfers for a day of fun celebrating Curt’s life. Curt, of Orleans, passed away on Feb. 2, 2014, at his home after battling cancer.

Curt Gillespie

He graduated from Orleans High School and attended the University of Louisville on a full basketball scholarship, where he played for Denny Crum and was voted the most valuable player his freshman year. He played basketball for Charles Traften and graduated from Oakland City University. He became a member of the Alaska Northern Knights professional basketball team. He had been employed at CPI, Paoli Inc., and Cook Inc.

Curt was rich in friends and poor in nothing.  He loved being outdoors and helping everyone in every way his body would allow.  His true love was his family. He was big in stature and heart, but his heart was bigger than his body.

The scramble is scheduled for August 5th at Otis Park Golf Course. The cost is $50 a person or $200 for a team of four with a limit of 28 teams.

You can sponsor a golf hole for $100.

You can sign up by texting Cain Gilstrap at 812-653-5367 or calling Otis Park Golf Course at 821-279-9092.

Food and drinks will be provided. There are also chances to enter for hole, door, and raffle prizes.

All proceeds go to the Curt Gilstrap Memorial Scholarship Fund.
