McIntyre Brothers sponsor 9th Annual Limestone Capital Half Marathon, 5K, & 1 Mile Walk

BEDFORD – Dedicated to Lawrence County, McIntyre Brothers is the sponsor of The 9th Annual Limestone Capital Half Marathon, 5K, & 1 Mile Walk on Saturday, October 7. To register to race or walk, click here.

“It is important for maintaining a sense of community that small towns have events such as the Limestone Marathon,” said Michael Parsons, Managing Partner of McIntyre Brothers. “Anyone who has been a part of it in past years understands the excitement and comradery around the start of the race and all the cheering and support as the participants are making their way through and finishing.”

McIntyre Brothers began operations as a family-owned business in 1954 in Bedford. The business was founded by Jim and Dean McIntyre and has been a staple in the community ever since. For three generations the business has grown in capacity and capability to handle big and challenging jobs while staying small enough to listen. Their sons Gary, Terry, Dale, and son-in-law Rick Rogers (who is married to their daughter Linda) worked in the company their whole careers and took over as Jim and Dean stepped back. Now Jeff McIntyre and Brandy Deckard, third generation McIntyre, are carrying on the family tradition today.

“McIntyre has a tradition of supporting the local community and this event fits that bill perfectly. Jeff’s wife Amber is very involved in putting the event together through her role at the Parks Department and we appreciate her reaching out with the opportunity to play a part,” added Parson. “I and my family will be participating, but it would be an understatement to say that running is not necessarily in the McIntyre Brothers’ DNA and I don’t anticipate a McIntyre Brothers running club springing up anytime soon.”

While the business specializes in below-grade and civil work for public utility substation construction, it is equally at home serving blue-chip customers such as the U.S. Armed Forces, GM, and municipalities in the tri-state region, with the expertise, crews, and equipment to sole source 95 percent of projects.

For McIntyre Brothers it’s not about being the biggest; it’s about making their customers successful and helping them navigate complex and challenging projects with trust and accountability. They understood if they could achieve this, growth would naturally follow. The company has built its reputation on this principle for nearly 70 years, and its customer relationships are proof that it’s the right way to do business.

“The customers who come to us aren’t looking for a bottom-of-the-barrel price,” said Parson. “They come to us because it has to be right. They know we will do what we will say we will do, and won’t leave until they are happy, and they know we have the resources to back it up, especially on challenging projects. We have multiple trades under one roof so they can make one call and leave the rest to us. These qualities are what have earned McIntyre Brothers loyal customers over the years and what makes this company so unique.”

The family believes that people are the company’s most valuable asset. They employ more than 60 professionals and skilled tradesmen, including electricians, carpenters, pipefitters, sheet metal fabricators, equipment operators, laborers, millwrights, and iron workers.

“They’re the heart and soul of our company, and their health and safety is our top priority,” said Parson.
