Mitchell woman arrested after stealing from Mitchell Dollar Tree

MITCHELL – A Mitchell woman was arrested on Friday, June 23 after Mitchell Police Officer Michael Bargo responded to a report of a woman stealing items at the Dollar Tree on Main Street.

When police arrived at 2:21 p.m. the store manager told police she witnessed 40-year-old Tara Grissom put a bottle of laundry soap into her purse. The manager also reported Grissom was in the store on Thursday, June 22 stealing items.

This is not the first time Grissom has been accused of stealing items from the store. On October 2, 2019, Grissom was issued a no-trespass order from returning to Dollar Tree.

Grissom exited the store with two large grocery bags and her large purse. Police stopped her and informed her she was violating the no-trespass order. She was then asked about the stolen items in her purse. Grissom removed her bag from her shoulder and placed it on the ground and then admitted she had stolen items from the store. The value of those items totaled $30.77. She also admitted to stealing items from the store the day before.

Grissom was detained. Grissom admitted to having drugs. Police found a small zippered pouch containing a plastic baggy of crystal meth.

Tara Grissom was arrested on charges of theft, criminal trespass, and possession of meth.
