BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested Saturday after Bedford Police officer Landon Jones, who was on patrol, saw him throwing a brick at the Bedford Masonic Lodge sign at 917 15th Street.

The officer stopped and made contact with 63-year-old Trevis Pemberton, of Bedford.

Officer Jones asked Pemberton why he was throwing the brick and he said he was “mad at the lodge”. He told police, “Members of the Masonic Lodge have been following him around for the last three days” and “The Bedford Masonic Lodge is responsible for the death of his father”.

Pemberton admitted his goal was to “throw bricks at the sign until it fell off and to completely destroy it”.

He said he was not going to leave until the “sign was completely destroyed”.

The officer contacted a Bedford Masonic Lodge Trustee about the damage and he requested to file charges.

Pemberton was arrested on a charge of criminal mischief.
