When police arrived the male, 54-year-old Gregory Mason had left walking west toward R Street.

Police found Mason sitting in the grass in the alley between 13th and 14th streets. Mason had abrasions to his knees, elbows, and forearms and he had urinated himself. Mason told police he had been injured when he fell on the sidewalk.

Mason told police he had suffered a stroke in January and was having a hard time maintaining his balance. He refused to be checked out by an ambulance crew.

Police say Mason had pinpoint pupils, red glassy eyes, slurred speech, and was profusely sweating.

Police requested an ambulance to the scene to perform a medical evaluation. Police then checked Mason’s pockets. Mason admitted he was carrying a pocket knife. In his sock, police found three plastic baggies. Two of the baggies contained crystal meth and the third contained Clonazepam and Alprozoam pills both controlled substances.

Gregory was transported to IU Health Hospital and once medically cleared he was transported to jail on charges of possession of meth, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and public intoxication.
