Freetown man sends threatening emails and text messages and is arrested

BEDFORD – A Freetown man was arrested on a warrant after Bedford Police officers say he violated a court order protection order on April 1, 2023, by sending threatening emails and text messages to the mother of his child.

Police arrested 38-year-old Curtis Abel, on charges of invasion of privacy and harassment.

According to a probable cause affidavit, On April 1, a woman came to the Bedford Police Department to report Abel was harassing her. The woman told police the two have a one-year-old daughter together but there was no custody or visitation agreement.

The woman was granted a protective order on March 10, 2023, and Abel was served with that order on March 22, 2023.

 Since then Abel had continuously sent the woman harassing text messages from different phone numbers and email messages from different email addresses.

The woman showed the officer numerous text messages and email messages.

The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for Abel’s arrest.
