Woman causing disturbance arrested after disrobing in IU Health Hospital emergency treatment area

BEDFORD – A Bedford woman was arrested when IU Police Officer Greg Hagan and Oolitic Town Marshal James Harrington who was also at the hospital responded to the emergency room after a report of a combative psychiatric patient.

Angie Hallanger

When police arrived they found 49-year-old Angie Hallanger standing in the hallway by the nurse station. She refused to cooperate with medical personnel and was yelling. She was told to lower her voice but she refused to comply and then raised her shirt and exposed her breasts to several adults and juveniles who were in the emergency room area. She continued to be disruptive and failed to comply.

Hallanger then went into an emergency treatment room and disrobed completely and sat in a chair. She was told numerous times to get dressed but she refused and then exited the room, continuing to be disruptive. She refused to return to the room and get dressed.

Officer Hagan placed his hand on Hallanger’s shoulder and attempted to escort her to a room but she turned and struck him with a closed fist on the chest. The two officers then took Hallanger to the floor and placed her in handcuffs and she was detained.

She then threatened to find Officer Hagan and shoot him in the head.

Prior to Hallanger being transported to the hospital, Bedford Police officers had responded to Super 8 Motel on BellBack Road after a report of a woman swimming in the pool naked. She was then transported to IU Health Hospital for an evaluation. Hallager had been found with a small baggie of marijuana.

Hallanger was arrested on charges of battery, intimidation, disorderly conduct, and public indecency.
