Intoxicated Heltonville man crashes vehicle into the side of a house

BEDFORD – A Heltonville man was arrested Saturday after Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a report at 5:12 a.m. of a property damage accident at 63 Sherwood Lane. The caller reported a driver of a black Dodge Charger had struck one of her vehicles and the side of her house.

When police arrived they spoke to the driver 21-year-old Tyler Scott. Police say Scott was intoxicated. He had glassy eyes, smelled of alcohol, and his speech was slurred.

Scott told officers he was traveling at a slow rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle due to the tires being bald. Police said there was nothing wrong with the tread on the tires to make the vehicle slide approximately 100 feet from the roadway into the side of the home on Sherwood Lane.

Scott admitted to drinking a glass of wine and one Miller Lite beer.

Scott failed numerous field sobriety tests. He was transported to the Lawrence County Jail where he submitted to a blood-alcohol test and had a blood-alcohol level of 0.110.

He was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and OWI endangerment.

Mikels Wrecker Service towed the vehicle from the scene.
