USDA Rural Development celebrates Homeownership Month by highlighting programs that help families

INDIANA – Today is the first day of National Homeownership Month.

As part of this nationwide celebration, all month long, USDA Rural Development (RD) will showcase programs that help people in rural and Tribal areas buy, build and repair affordable homes and pay their rent in America’s smallest towns and communities.

This month, we will highlight the ways the Biden-Harris Administration has invested $37 billion to help nearly 216,000 families and individuals through RD’s Single Family Housing programs:

In addition to programs that boost homeownership, we’ll also feature RD’s Multifamily Housing Programs that increase access to affordable multifamily rental opportunities, such as rental assistance that ensures nearly 308,000 low-income and elderly tenants pay no more than 30% of their income in housing costs.

We’ll also revisit recent initiatives to increase homeownership on Native lands and help people rebuild after disasters, and learn how RD helped thousands of families keep their homes by reducing or pausing their monthly mortgage payments during financial uncertainty caused by the pandemic.

With all this and more, it’s a great time to follow USDA RD on social media to find events across the nation showcasing affordable housing programs for lenders, community partners, families, and individuals. Learn more about everything we do at our website. Happy Homeownership Month!
