Obituary: Charlotte Geneva Mesarosh

October 9, 1923 – May 8, 2022

Charlotte Geneva Mesarosh, 99, of Mitchell, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2023, at her residence.

Born October 9, 1923, in Verona, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of Benjamin C. and Dorothy (Gust) Stiegman.  She first married George “Geo” Davis in April 1941 and he preceded her in death. Charlotte then married James W. Chism and he preceded her in death. She married Walter Mesarosh on June 25, 2006, and he survives.

Charlotte cleaned houses and was a homemaker. She was a member of Bedford Seventh-day Adventist Church and enjoyed quilting and going to church.

Survivors include her husband, Walter Mesarosh of Mitchell; daughters, Joyce (Paul) Rhodes of Atlanta, Missouri, Betty Schneider of Denver, Colorado, and Barbara Hamilton of Madison, Wisconsin; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Her parents; husbands; daughter, Judith Scott; grandchildren, Daniel Rhodes, Debbrah Moehle, and Ryan Scott; great-grandson, Josh Rhodes; and siblings, Gilman Stiegman, Bernadine “Bernie” Urben, Gerald Stiegman, Oliver “Pete” Stiegman, and Donna Merrill preceded her in death.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 15, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Dewight Kruger officiating.  Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
