Chesterton CPA wins top Alzheimer’s fundraising award

MICHIGAN CITY – Continuing her decade-plus commitment to raise funds for a cure, Chesterton resident Lynn Duttlinger, CPA, was recently presented with two awards from the Alzheimer’s Association of NWI.

Lynn Duttlinger

She earned a first-place award for Individual Fundraising during the 2022 Walk to End Alzheimer’s event in La Porte County and coordinated a group of supporters that earned second place for Community Team Fundraising. These incredible achievements earned her the title of Top Individual Fundraiser of the Year for the sixth year in a row for the LaPorte County/Michigan City Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Duttlinger is a longtime leader in the Northwest Indiana business community and currently serves as a Senior Director with CLH, CPAs & Consultants. Outside of taxation and accountancy, Duttlinger is passionate about giving back to the community and is active with an array of local organizations.

During last year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s event, Duttlinger raised $7,170 as an individual.  Together with her team of supporters, Team Hope raised a total of $7,560 for 2022.  Lynn was also asked to serve as the “mission speaker” at the 2022 Walk to share her journey with her mom’s battle with Alzheimer’s.  Duttlinger shared, “My beautiful mother is why I continue to walk and support her. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2012 and passed away in 2017.  I promised her that I would not stop this effort until a cure was found.”

Duttlinger has been involved with Alzheimer’s fundraising in Northwest Indiana for more than 11 years. Throughout her years of participation, she has been able to raise a grand total of $44,736 to fund Alzheimer’s research and treatment and was named the Top Individual Fundraiser for 6 of her participating years.

“The support of our many generous donors in the region provides hope to patients living with Alzheimer’s and their families that one day we may see new breakthroughs in treatment,” Duttlinger remarked.  “I am honored to have been named a top fundraiser, and I invite everyone in our community to join us in this effort to help fund a cure. Every dollar raised puts us closer.”

“We couldn’t be prouder of Lynn’s achievements,” added Tony Gillisse, CPA and Partner at CLH.  “She pours her heart into this important fundraising effort. She is deserving of this honor and we know her achievements inspire our team as they also serve others across Northwest Indiana.”

About her team’s name, “Team Hope,” Duttlinger reflected, “It signals our expectation that through research and scientific discovery, our collective hope for a cure will come to fruition.”  The 2023 walk will be held on October 7th and individuals wishing to support Duttlinger’s “Team Hope” can find more information online on the Walk’s website.
