Daviess County Family YMCA’s indoor swimming pool closing for major repairs

WASHINGTON – The Daviess County Family YMCA’s indoor swimming pool the Gwaltney Aquatics Center will be closed on May 22 to make major ventilation repairs.

According to officials, the repairs are necessary to ensure a safe and healthy environment for members and the community. The current, defunct ventilation system has also caused various damages throughout the pool area that need addressed as well.

The YMCA hopes to reopen the pool by July 6 or earlier.

Members with a Daviess County Family YMCA membership can use other participating Y’s with the nationwide membership for free.

The YMCA is accepting donations for the major pool renovation, which can be made on their website or by calling 812-254-4481.

Updates on the renovation and closure will be provided as they become available.
