No. 4 Bluejackets score 24 runs in shutout victory over White River Valley

SWITZ CITY – Number four ranked Mitchell High School continued their winning streak on Wednesday, notching their fifth in a row, scoring 24 runs in a shutout victory over White River Valley.

Mitchell’s offense was at its best on the day in the third inning. Already up 7-0 by that point, the Bluejackets scored 13 runs in the inning. Nineteen batters cycled through in the third for Mitchell, with the team at one point managing 12 straight batters reaching base.

Due to the score disparity, the game was ended in the fifth inning.

In one of the team’s best batting performances of the year, the Bluejackets tallied 21 total hits as a team, with 20 RBIs. Nearly every Mitchell batter that took the plate against the Wolverines came away with a hit, with seven Bluejackets finishing with multiple.

Bryson Zeeks had four hits and five RBIs to lead the team in both areas against White River Valley. Ethan Turner also had a great day in the batter’s box, finishing 3-5 with four runs batted in. Ben Seitzinger also finished with three hits, ended the game a perfect 3-3 from the plate.

Zeeks also earned the win at the mound for Mitchell, throwing all five innings. During his time at the mound against the Wolverines, Zeeks allowed three hits, while pitching the shutout. He struck out three, putting away White River Valley in just 60 total pitches.

The Bluejackets are now 11-1 on the season, with an undefeated 3-0 record in Patoka Lake Athletic Conference games. They’ll next face PLAC opponent Perry Central (6-4) at Gary Seitzinger field on Friday.
