BNL golfers edge New Albany on tiebreaker

BNL’s Carson Root carded the tiebreaker score as the Stars edged New Albany on Thursday.

NEW ALBANY – Bedford North Lawrence won on the fifth-man tiebreaker score while conquering New Albany during boys high school golf action on Thursday.

The Stars carded 180 on the back nine at Valley View, winning the tiebreaker by virtue of Carson Root’s 50 as the fifth score.

Jett Jones paced BNL with a 42 on the par-36 layout. The Stars, playing without senior Colton Staggs, got key contributions from Drew McKee (43) and Parker Foddrill (49) in the back of the lineup.

“We’re happy to get the win despite not playing our best rounds,” BNL coach Jeff Hein said.

Tyler Bellush capped the BNL scoring with 46.

The Stars will compete in the Corydon Invitational on Saturday.
