Need a payment plan to pay your owed taxes here are some tips to set one up

INDIANA – You filed your individual state income tax return, but it turns out you owe more than you can pay all at once. The good news is that the Indiana Department of Revenue offers payment plans for individuals who owe more than $100. The amount owed will determine the maximum length of time allowed for a payment plan.

Payment Plan Set Up

Visit INTIME or contact Customer Service to set up a payment plan.

INTIME

The process of setting up a payment plan is especially easy and efficient in INTIME. Verify the balance due by signing up or logging in to INTIME, then follow the step-by-step guide for setting up your payment plan.

In fact, you do not have to wait for DOR to send a tax bill. You can set up a payment plan prior to the tax filing deadline to help reduce penalties and interest on the balance. When doing this in INTIME, you’ll be able to:

  • Select monthly or bi-weekly payments
  • Select the number of payments or payment amounts
  • Immediately make an initial down payment (20% is recommended to reduce the amount of interest you’ll need to pay, but it is optional.)
  • Schedule automatic recurring payments with your bank account
  • Select when your first payment will be due. The first payment must be made within 30 days of the date the payment plan is made.
  • View a summary of information, including payment frequency, installment type, number of payments, down payment, and when the first payment is due.

Setting up a payment plan in INTIME does not exclude penalties. Late penalties defined by law apply to unpaid tax balances, which include plan installments.
