Bedford woman arrested after overdosing on drugs

BEDFORD – A Bedford woman was arrested on a warrant after Bedford Police and an IU LifeLine ambulance responded to an incident at Southview Terrace Apartments on Ted Jones Drive on February 23, 2023.

A caller had reported a male was passed out in the roadway.

When police arrived the male had gone inside an apartment.

Police spoke to 45-year-old Richard Caswell who told police a friend 30-year-old Daniel Holt had passed out, but was not inside the apartment.

Police say Holt was under the influence “of some kind of substance”. Holt denied the allegations and said he had a seizure causing him to pass out.

Sabrina Leggett

Also in the apartment was 20-year-old Sabrina Leggett.

While Holt was being treated by IU Health EMS, Leggett was seated on a couch near Holt. She too was under the influence. Leggett lost consciousness and was treated for a possible overdose.

Police found glass smoking pipes with meth residue, a syringe loaded with fentanyl, a baggy of fentanyl, marijuana, gabapentin pills, and other drug paraphernalia.

Leggett was transported by ambulance to IU Health Bedford for treatment. After being medically discharged, she was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Lawrence County. She is now facing new charges of possession of meth, possession of a narcotic drug, and visiting a common nuisance.
