Police and fire department permanent roles, promotions, and retirements approved by Bedford Board of Works

BEDFORD – On Monday, members of the Bedford Board of Works and Safety voted to approve various personnel requests from the Bedford Police and Fire Departments.

The first was a request from BPD Chief Terry Moore to accept officer Tyler McGlocklin to permanent status, following his completion of a probationary period.

The board also approved multiple requests from Bedford Fire Chief John Hughes.

BFD Lieutenant Justin B. Spires, Senior Firefighter Brady J. Rhoda and Firefighter Second Class Clayton A. Lumpe were accepted to the roles permanently following their individual completions of probationary periods.

The board accepted the retirement of BFD Captain Jeffrey S. Armstrong, who served for the department for 26 years.

With his retirement, Hughes requested probationary promotions to fill his position, which were also approved by the board. Those were:

  • Lieutenant David R. Wright to Captain
  • Senior Firefighter Brady J. Rhoda to Lieutenant
  • Firefighter First Class Dane N. Fountain to Senior Firefighter
