Installation of modernized traffic signals planned at several locations in Monroe County

MONROE CO. — Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Morphey Construction Inc. plans to begin work on or after Wednesday, March 15 to upgrade traffic signals at several locations in Monroe County in downtown Ellettsville.

Motorists can expect temporary lane restrictions and intermittent flagging while work is in progress. The contractor plans to start at the intersection of State Road 46 and Matthews Drive.

Work will occur Monday thru Friday from approximately 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is expected to last two weeks at each location, weather permitting.

The following locations are included:

  • S.R. 46 WB / Main Street / Sale Street
  • S.R. 46 WB / Temperance Street / Sale Street
  • S.R. 46 EB & WB at Hartstrait Road
  • S.R. 46 EB & WB at Union Valley Road

The $1.5 million contract was awarded to Morphey Construction Inc. in February and has a completion date of late August. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, avoid distractions, and consider worker safety when traveling through active construction zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
