A single-vehicle accident on Interstate 70 claims the life of a Spencer man

PUTNAM CO. – On Friday, March 3, at approximately 10:35 a.m., the Indiana State Police Putnamville Post responded to the area of Interstate 70 eastbound near the 45-mile marker to investigate a single-vehicle accident that claimed the life of one individual.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Brad Fyfe revealed that a 2023 Dodge truck driven by 64-year-old Michael W. Frazier, of Spencer, was traveling west on Interstate 70 near the 45-mile marker.  For an unknown reason, Frazier lost control of the truck traveling into the median, striking an earth embankment, and causing his vehicle to roll. The truck eventually came to a rest right side up.

Trooper Fyfe and off-duty Vigo County Deputy Charlie Cummins immediately administered lifesaving first aid.  Unfortunately, their attempts to help Frazier were unsuccessful. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Putnam County Coroner’s office.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be contributing factors in the accident.
