Mitchell woman was injured Friday in a rear-end collision on State Road 37

MITCHELL – Friday at 3:30 p.m. on State Road 37 at the intersection of Wray Court.

According to police, 58-year-old Shawn Stalker, of Mitchell, was traveling north on State Road 37 in her 1998 maroon Buick LeSabre. She told police she couldn’t remember what happened to cause the accident. The officer said Stalker was disoriented and confused.  She told police she was not injured but agreed to be seen by EMS at the scene. She was transported by ambulance to IU Health Hospital for further treatment.

Police say Stalker’s vehicle struck a white Dodge Ram 2500 driven by 65-year-old Carey Wood, of Mitchell. The crash impacted the rear bumper of Wood’s truck, causing the LeSabre to slide into the median facing southeast.

Wood was not injured and refused medical treatment at the scene.

A witness told police she was driving behind Stalker’s truck in the right lane of northbound State Road 37 and stated Stalker “was moving left and right in her lane, suggesting maybe she was looking for something while she was driving”. The witness told police Stalker switched into the left lane and struck the Dodge Ram.

Damages were estimated between $2,501 to $5,000.
