Traffic stop leads to arrests with four facing drug charges

ORLEANS – Four people were arrested Saturday after an Orleans Police officer stopped the driver of a vehicle for a traffic violation.

At approximately 1:50 a.m., the officer stopped the driver of a white Chevrolet SUV in the area of Maple and Middleton streets for speeding.

A search of the vehicle led officers to locate two containers housing a crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine. A syringe was also located on the driver. This syringe field tested positive for meth. Officers also found marijuana in the vehicle.

All four occupants were placed under arrest and transported to the Orange County Jail. Once at the jail, jail officers discovered that two of the males had narcotics still on their person which resulted in additional charges.

Arrested were:

Nathan Purkhiser, 35, of French Lick, is facing charges of possession of meth, unlawful possession of a syringe, and trafficking.

Richard Yarberry, 38, of Paoli, is facing charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and trafficking.

Jessica Kerr, 31, of Jasper, is facing a charge of possession of meth.

Heather Rominger, 31, of Paoli, is facing a charge of possession of meth.

Assisting agencies with this arrest were officers with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and Paoli Police Department.
