Mitchell High School’s Malaya Tanglao named Genius Jock for the month of March

MITCHELL – Malaya Tanglao, a senior at Mitchell High School, has been named the Genius Jock for the month of March presented by the attorneys at Pittman Law firm, Greg Pittman and Michelle Woodward.

Tanglao, the daughter of Michelle Tanglao and Ron Tanglao, excelled both on and off the field, competing across three sports, golf for two years, softball for four years, and basketball for four years, while maintaining a GPA of 3.73.

During her time at MHS, Tanglao was a member of SADD and Fresh Start Peer Leading. She was also a volunteer for the Tulip Street Christian Church Winter Clothing Drive.

She was named to the all-regional softball team in 2021 when she was also named MHS Softball Defensive Player of the Year. Tanglao has received multiple Mental Attitude Awards as well.

Following her graduation, she plans to attend Earlham College in Richmond to major in exercise science and play on the first Earlham College softball team.
