Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue names Marc Carlson as Chief Revenue Officer

WEST LAFAYETTE, IN, and WASHINGTON, DC – The Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue continues to expand its senior leadership team with the appointment of Marc Carlson as Chief Revenue Officer.

Marc Carlson

As a member of numerous executive teams during his 38-year career in high-growth robotics, mechanical design, business systems automation, digital transformation management, multi-asset process automation, and data flow automation, Carlson has helped create over $80 billion in market value. In his new role, Carlson will be responsible for the growth and integration of all revenue generation processes in the Institute as the organization creates and leads a new category of Tech Statecraft to advance freedom through trusted technology.

As a Senior Advisor in the U.S. Department of State, Carlson played a crucial role in building the Clean Network Alliance of Democracies to include 60 countries accounting for two-thirds of the world’s GDP, more than 200 telcos, and dozens of industry-leading companies aligned on using only trusted technology in their 5G infrastructure.

In addition to serving on the Advisory Board of the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue, he is a member of several corporate and philanthropic boards. Carlson is a lifelong Boilermaker holding Mechanical Engineering and Business (BSME and MSM) degrees from Purdue University.

“I’ve known Marc for over 40 years, going back to our undergraduate days at Purdue. He is not only a brilliant engineer and one of the best enterprise business leaders I’ve even worked with, but an exemplary human being,” remarked Keith Krach, the Institute’s Chairman. “We are already fortunate to have Marc as one of our Advisory Board members. I am absolutely thrilled that he agreed to take on the additional leadership role as the Chief Revenue Officer and propel the Institute to the next level.”

“I’ve seen Marc Carlson in action at the State Department and his legendary business career speaks for itself,” said Michelle Giuda. “As our Chief Revenue Officer, he will continue his commitment to safeguarding freedom from technological authoritarianism. I am encouraged that with Marc’s addition, the Institute’s work, including our focus on developing the definitive Global Tech Security Strategy through the Global Tech Security Commission, is positioned for long-term impact.”

“The United States has been blessed with creating or leveraging most technological innovation over the years. Technology drives productivity which drives improved living standards and a better quality of life for all. Technology also drives national security. For these reasons it is important to lead the effort in awareness and action around the globe to ensure that technology is created and implemented in a way that supports the force of good,” said Marc Carlson. “The Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy strengthens Purdue’s reputation as America’s national security university. Its focus is on the adoption of Trust Standards that create transparency, accountability, intellectual property protection, rule of law, and support for sovereign nations and open markets has never been more important or urgent, and I am excited to work alongside the senior leaders at the Institute to help it realize that critical mission.”

The appointment of Carlson as Chief Revenue Officer follows a number of recent senior hires under Director Michelle Giuda as the Institute focuses on long-term growth and impact, including Dan Kurtenbach as Chief Growth Officer and Brad McKinney as VP of Strategic Initiatives.
