The ceremony will include remarks from Joe Heerens, General Counsel for The Honorable Eric J. Holcomb, Chief Justice Loretta H. Rush, Court of Appeals of Indiana Chief Judge Robert R. Altice, Jr., and James Luttrull, Jr., Former Grant County Prosecutor and current Director of Institutional Response, GRACE. In December, Governor Holcomb named Judge Kenworthy to succeed Judge Derek R. Molter, who was appointed to the Supreme Court in June 2022 and sworn in on September 1. Judge Kenworthy was sworn in at a private ceremony on January 18, 2023, and officially began her duties as a judge on that date. Her appointment to the Court resulted in its first-ever female majority.

The Court of Appeals of Indiana is the second-highest court in the state, hearing appeals from the state’s trial courts. The 15 members of the Court issued approximately 2,000 written opinions in 2022. A decision is final unless granted further review by the Indiana Supreme Court. Oral arguments are open to the public, and opinions are posted online. For more information on the Court of Appeals of Indiana, visit courts.in.gov/appeals/.
