Lawrence and surrounding counties remain under winter weather advisory until 7 p.m.

BEDFORD – Rain began changing over into snow early Wednesday morning, creating a messy, slushy mess on the roads. Forecasters predicted some areas could see up to 8 inches of snow once the system moves through, although those totals were revised slightly lower as temperatures remained above freezing throughout the morning.

Lawrence and surrounding counties remain under a winter weather advisory until 7 p.m. tonight.

Residents can expect wet snow with total snow accumulations of up to three inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 miles per hour.

The Indiana Department of Transportation reported:

“We’re seeing rain across the southern part of the state, with snow to the north. Drivers should expect conditions to worsen as they approach central Indiana from the north or south, where there has been more significant snowfall. Statewide, we have close to 750 trucks out treating and plowing. Drivers can check conditions in their specific area on INDOT’s traffic and plow cameras at 511in.org or via the TrafficWise mobile app.
