Local judges attend the State of Judiciary address

The State of the Judiciary is presented annually before the Governor and a joint session of the Indiana General Assembly in the chamber of the Indiana House of Representatives. 

Trial court judges from across the state are invited to attend by the Indiana Supreme Court.

The formal update on the work of the judicial branch was held on Wednesday afternoon in the chamber of the Indiana House of Representatives.

The Chief Justice provided lawmakers with an update on the “condition of the courts” according to Article 7, Section 3, of the Indiana Constitution. The 2023 address Indiana Courts as Engines of Economic Development, Fairness, and Public Safety was focused on how the courts will help to make Indiana an attractive state for economic development and how the courts serve as a crucial protector of public safety.
