Pike Central charges past BNL

BNL coach Chris Branam watches his wrestlers on the mat. The Stars suffered a loss to Pike Central on Tuesday night.

BEDFORD – Pike Central dominated the action on the mat while posting a 56-22 victory over Bedford North Lawrence during high school wrestling action on Tuesday night.

The Chargers won nine matches, eight by pins, to spoil BNL’s final home matches for the 2022-23 season.

”Tonight was not at all what we wanted,” BNL coach Chris Branam said. “My hope is it lights a fire under them as we head into conference and sectional. I know we’re capable of wrestling better than what we saw tonight.”

BNL’s lone wins on the mat came from Jayden Johnson (14-0 over Gage Morton at 120 pounds) and Ethan Stancombe (pinning Alex Gray in 1:54 at 152).

The Stars will compete in the Hoosier Hills Conference meet at Columbus East on Saturday.
