William “Bill” Charles Crane, 88, of Bedford, passed away on December 29, 2022, at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born on September 5, 1934, he was the son of Audrey and Hazel (Hughes) Crane. He married Dolores Cobb on June 7, 1953, and she preceded him in death on December 23, 2020.
Bill attended Williams High School. He retired from the City of Bedford Fire Department in 1979 and retired from Bill’s Roofing in 1990. He loved Bobby Knight, IU Basketball, and fishing.
Surviving to cherish the memory of Bill are three daughters, Cheryl Norman, Terri (Doug) Ritchison, and Michelle (Bill) Ragsdale; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; lifelong friend, Dan Bush; two sisters, Euretta Griggs and Cathy (Phil) Jenner; and one brother, Robert (Lynn) Crane.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Audrey and Hazel; wife, Delores; one brother, John Crane; two sisters, Alta Fields and Rebecca McCullough; one great-grandson, Johnny; and a son-in-law, Scott Norman.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at the Ferguson-lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford. Burial will follow at the Talbott Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2023, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
