A several-month-long investigation by the Indiana State Police Bloomington District A.C.E.S. (Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Section) concluded with the arrest of numerous suspects including White.

On April 7, 2022, Trooper Chance Humphrey was contacted by the owners of Lawrence County Farm Supply, who were reporting their business had been burglarized. The business had sustained a large amount of damage, and several tools and a large amount of cash had been stolen. Sergeant Greg Day, Troopers Caleb Garvin, and Zack Robbins responded to the scene to assist Trp. Humphrey. They immediately began an investigation to include the processing of the scene by Sergeant Eric Russell, Crime Scene Investigator assigned to the Indiana State Police Laboratory.

Not only did the Troopers identify potential suspects, but they also learned that for the past few months there had been several thefts and burglaries in the city of Mitchell. The CSX Railroad building had been burglarized multiple times and there had been previous smaller-scale thefts at the feed mill and other victims were also identified.

For the next five months, Troopers followed up on tips, interviewed numerous people, collected various pieces of evidence, and executed three separate search warrants that resulted in the recovery of several stolen items. Eventually, the investigating Troopers compiled enough evidence to establish probable cause for the arrest of eight suspects on several felony and misdemeanor offenses.
