Washington Police Department to participate in Polar Plunge 2023 to benefit Special Olympics Indiana

WASHINGTON – The Washington Police Department has put a team together for the 2023 Polar Plunge to help raise funds for Indiana Special Olympics.

The Indiana Special Olympics is a not-for-profit organization that provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in more than 20 Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, reaching over 15,000 athletes across Indiana.

Each participant must raise at least $85 and every team sets a goal. The WPD Team has set their goal at $5,000 before February 1st, 2023. The team is currently collecting donations from any local businesses or individuals who wish to donate. Donations must be cash or check (checks can be made out to Indiana Special Olympics).

Donations can be dropped off at the Washington Police Department Mon-Fri 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. (Ask for Kyla). If you are unable to bring your donation to the station during these hours or you have any questions you can contact Kyla at (812) 254-8242.

The WPD Team, along with several other teams, will jump into the water (no matter the temp) at Prides Creek on February 25, 2023, to demonstrate their commitment to the cause. More information can be found on the Washington Police Department Facebook page.
