SULLIVAN CO. – A man and a woman are behind bars after police arrested them in connection with a child abuse and neglect investigation that began on November 12th when allegations of abuse involving a 2-year-old child were made.
After a review of the investigation by Sullivan County Prosecutor Ann Smith-Mischler, a judge issued arrest warrants for 25-year-old Desirae Bailey, of Terre Haute, and 35-year-old Trent Land, of Carlisle.

Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested Bailey Tuesday, November 15, on two counts of child neglect.
On Thursday evening, Land was arrested on warrants for domestic battery on a juvenile younger than 14 years of age, neglect of a dependent, and strangulation. He was also wanted on a warrant for a parole violation.
Both are being held in the Sullivan County Jail. Bailey was held on a $16,000 bond. Land is being held on a $24,000 bond.
No other details about what led to the investigation have been released at this time.
