Deep Roots acoustic music series at Bedford Library Adult Services to feature Middle Eastern Quartet Salaam Thursday evening

BEDFORD – Go on a musical journey to the Middle East with Salaam at the library on Thursday, November 17 at 6 p.m. on the Adult Services floor at the Bedford Public Library.

Salaam is the last performance in the Deep Roots Acoustic Music Series held at the Bedford Public Library on the Adult Services floor.  The library has hosted two other groups this fall, each one allowing participants to explore a different type of music that has deep roots in history and culture.

This all-ages, free event weaves stories and music together, by using traditional and original rhythms and songs to take the listener on a trip to distant shores and times.

This Middle Eastern quartet made up of instruments such as the oud and joza will be performing and talking about their instruments and songs, where they originate from, and the stories behind them.  Salaam will be taking the audience on a musical journey with their innovative interpretations of middle eastern sounds and rhythms rooted in the ancient tradition of maqam.

The library is committed to lifelong learning by providing cultural opportunities for all ages, where people, information, and ideas come together to enrich lives and build community. This and other exciting programs can be found on their event calendar at bedlib.org.
