Two seniors will compete in Lawrence County’s Distinguished Young Women scholarship program on Saturday

BEDFORD – Two high school seniors from Bedford North Lawrence will compete in Lawrence County’s Distinguished Young Women scholarship program Saturday at the Bedford North Lawrence Performing Arts Center.  

Participants will compete for college scholarships and the opportunity to represent Lawrence County at the Indiana state program in Kokomo, in February 2023.

The program begins at 4 p.m. Admission is $5.00 for adults and children school age and older. 

Italy Lewis is the daughter of Allison and Scott Lewis.  She plans to attend either Indiana University Kelly School of Business or Purdue Krannert School of Management to major in Accounting or Business Analytics.

Katelyn Moody is the daughter of Danielle and Keith Moody. She plans to attend IUPUI and major in Forensic Science.

The two young women competing will be evaluated by a panel of judges in the following categories:  Scholastics (25%), Interview (25%), Talent (20%), Fitness (15%), and Self-Expression (15%).  

Lawrence County’s Distinguished Young Woman of 2022 Mavis Arthur will give her farewell address before turning over the title to the DYW of 2023.
