Orange County man sentenced to prison for dealing meth, resisting arrest

PAOLI – An Orange County man was sentenced to 22 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections.

Orange County Prosecutor Holly Hudelson says 29-year-old Dustin Joy who has an extensive criminal history that includes six prior felony convictions, pleaded guilty to charges of dealing meth between one to five grams of meth in a negotiated plea deal. A charge of possession of meth less than 5 grams and a habitual offender were dismissed.

Judge Steve Owen sentenced Joy to 16 years in prison on October 24th. Joy was given credit for serving 543 days and was fined $386 which must be paid within 90 days of his release from incarceration.

According to court records Joy was on probation in two other counties when this current offense was committed which played a part in his sentencing.

On September 28, 2022, Joy also pleaded guilty in a negotiated plea deal to resisting arrest. Charges of dealing meth of 10 grams or more and possession of meth were dismissed.

In this case, on October 26, 2022, Judge Owen sentenced Joy to six years in the Department of Corrections which will be served consecutively with his other sentence.
