Rogers Group-Mitchell Crushed Stone celebrated 70 years of service Saturday

MITCHELL – Rogers Group-Mitchell Crushed Stone celebrated 70 years Saturday afternoon which saw community members come and enjoy the beautiful weather and music together.

Attendees were treated to a fish fry, courtesy of the Huron Fire Department, music, and quarry tours during the event. There were also opportunities to interact with quarry equipment and fire trucks that were on display, a chance to win door prizes, and rock painting for the kids, among other activities during the four-hour event.

The community came together to support Rogers Group-Mitchell Crushed Stone to celebrate with one another and the success of the business in Lawrence County.

“We wanted to celebrate 70 years in the community, and we just wanted to invite the community, our customers, and the surrounding community out to come by and celebrate with us,” said Rogers Group Inside Sales Representative, Juli Tincher. “We have a great relationship here, and the community is a big part of our success, so we wanted to celebrate them together on this beautiful weather.”

Another activity available for attendees included a massive boulder placed near the eating area, where attendees could guess how much the stone weighs. The closest guess to the total weight won a truckload of gravel for their driveway or the purpose they needed the stone for with free delivery.

With the 70 years in celebration in Mitchell, the overall history of the largest privately owned construction aggregate company in the country got its start just up the road.

Rogers Group started as a company in 1908 on the side of the road in then-rural Bloomington. Throughout the history of the company, Rogers Group quarries and asphalt plants have been recognized for their commitment to safety, quality, and the communities in which their employees live and work.

Growing more and more each day, Rogers Group supports 70 quarries, and 40 asphalt plants in 11 states including Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.

For more than 110 years, Rogers Group’s crushed stone and hot mix asphalt have laid the foundation for homes, schools, hospitals, highways, and other infrastructure critical to the American economy. They are proud of their long and storied legacy and the wide-ranging impact on the American infrastructure and economy.
