BEDFORD – Registration is now open for the Bedford Parks Department pickleball tournament.
Pickleball is an indoor or outdoor racket/paddle sport where two players, or four players, hit a perforated hollow polymer ball over a 36-inch-high net using solid-faced paddles. The two sides hit the ball back and forth over the net until one side commits a rule infraction. It’s a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong.
Matches will be played on Wednesdays at the Bedford North Lawrence High School Auxiliary Gym. There are positions for 24 teams. The team format is doubles. The cost to register a team is $50. All teams will play 12 matches.
The deadline to register is October 24th at 4 p.m.
The tournament will begin on November 9th. Match times are scheduled for 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m. Sunday open play will be from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. and cost $5 to attend. The schedule will follow the Bedford North Lawrence School calendar.
There will be a seeded single-elimination tournament at the end of the season.
