BLOOMINGTON – Indiana University Homecoming is Oct. 7 and 8, and the parade and football game will highlight festivities on the Bloomington campus.
The parade starts at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 7. The route begins at the intersection of 17th Street and Woodlawn Avenue, runs south on Woodlawn, turns east on 13th Street, turns north on Fee Lane, then heads west back to 17th and Woodlawn.
This is also a great way to participate in Gear Up Friday and show campus pride by wearing the school colors. Throughout the afternoon on Oct. 7, food and swag will be given away as students wait outside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall for Hoosier Hysteria tickets. Special visitors will be there, including members of the band and cheer team and men’s and women’s basketball players. From 3 to 4 p.m., “Beat Michigan” shirts will be given away to students.
IU’s football team will take on the University of Michigan at noon on Oct. 8 at Memorial Stadium.
The parking lots around Memorial Stadium and the grass fields will be open for tailgating at 7 a.m., and ticket holders can enter the stadium at 10:30 a.m. Tents, large tarps, glass bottles, and kegs are not permitted.
All IU Athletics complex parking (surface lots and the grass south of the stadium) is sold out. For fans who haven’t purchased parking yet, a gameday shuttle will be available.
The shuttle service will start two hours before kickoff for patrons, with three shuttles running the route and stopping at the Poplars and Henderson garages about every 15 minutes. The shuttle service will resume at the conclusion of the game and continue for about two to three hours.
